Grid North Partners is a joint initiative of 10 transmission‐owning utilities in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin that collaborated to build more than 800 miles of new high-voltage transmission infrastructure in the Upper Midwest.
Formed in 2004 under the name CapX2020, the partnership sought to upgrade and expand the electric transmission grid in the upper Midwest. The projects, located in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin, came in on time and under budget.
